The Corporation’s capital works program will increase to approximately 1 billion per year over the next five years. The works are driven by population growth, water source development in response to the drying climate, increasing regulatory requirements and asset replacement.
The new Capital Delivery Strategy includes both traditional (in-house) and partner (external) delivery strategies.
Partner Delivery
The partner delivery strategy groups ’like work‘ based on asset type, technology or geographic location into ’bundles‘ sufficiently sized to attract interest from private industry. The Corporation has put in place long term relationship contracts with private partners to deliver the works.
Approximately half the Capital Works Program is now being delivered in these bundles, using various forms of relationship contracts.
Traditional Delivery
The other half of the program (currently $400 - $500 million per year) is being delivered in the traditional way, using a combination of internal Water Corporation resources, panel consultants and construction contractors.
