Surface water
Surface water for the Integrated Water Supply Scheme (IWSS) is obtained from dams in the Darling Range. Traditionally our surface water sources have supplied approximately 25-45% of water for the IWSS.
The future of our dams
Reduced rainfall and changes in rainfall timing have greatly reduced run-off into our dams around Perth and dramatically reduced their role in our drinking water supplied. Our water supply planning is allowing us to reduce our reliance on dams by investing in new sources that are climate independent.
Dams information for visitors
The dams traditionally supplying water to the IWSS are Canning, Serpentine, Serpentine Pipehead, Conjurunup Pipehead, Victoria, Mundaring Weir, South Dandalup, North Dandalup, Wungong, Stirling and Churchman's Brook.

Yearly streamflow
Our comparative 100 year streamflow graph shows how the average amount of water received into our dams has dropped dramatically in recent times. Our yearly streamflow graph is updated regularly in winter, and shows yearly streamflow compared to the previous 10 years.
