The Water Corporation provides essential water, wastewater and drainage services to the people of Western Australia: we take water from the environment and return drainage water and treated wastewater and its by-products back into the environment. In doing this, we aim to provide safe and reliable water services to customers and the community, which are both affordable and environmentally sound for current and future generations.
We aim to:
- play a leading role in the sustainable future of Western Australia's water;
- avoid adverse effects of activities, or else mitigate or remediate unavoidable adverse effects, to maximise economic, environmental and social benefits; and
- enhance natural resources and ecological systems where practical by: preventing harm to the environment, conserving environmental values, and increasing the functional capacity of ecosystems.
This is underpinned by our Environmental Policy and the Corporation's Environmental Management System which enables a systematic identification of environmental risks, setting of targets and development of environment improvement plans to reduce risks and ensure our activities are sustainable. This system is based upon implementing best practice, meeting our legal requirements and rigorous monitoring and reviewing of our performance.
