Our pricing principles and charging structure provide a strong incentive for customers to optimise their waste management solutions, and offer further rewards for broader waste minimisation and Cleaner Production outcomes.
Quality-Quantity charges, based upon individual metering and sampling programs, are direct user pays charges. So you only pay according to the demands that you place on the public wastewater system. Any efforts you make to reduce the environmental demands associated with your sewer discharge will translate to real savings in the charges for our service.
You may have opportunities to reduce your wastewater management costs through a variety of approaches:

Pre-treatment or other process changes to reduce the strength of your wastewater discharge.
- Pre-treatment or other process changes to allow internal re-use of your treated wastewater. This will offset your water supply needs, and save input costs, as well as reducing your Industrial Waste volumes.
- Consideration of alternative disposal methods, to find a more economically efficient approach to you waste management needs. You may be able to substitute a cheaper waste disposal option for a portion of your current Industrial Waste volume, or abandon more costly options in favour of sewer discharge.
Optimising your balance of on-site treatment, sewer discharge, and other disposal options is very much an individual thing, requiring case by case investigation. Your best waste management solution will depend upon the specifics of your processes and operations, the exact characteristics of your wastewater, the sensitivities of your immediate local environment, and the range of disposal options available in your region.
