The Waterwise Display Villages program offers the building industry and new homebuyers the opportunity to play an important role in conserving our State's water supply. This initiative is just one way the Corporation is working towards the goals set by the State Government in the State Water Strategy to make WA a more water efficient community.

When building a new home, you have the chance to build water efficient principles into the home design right from the beginning. As well as conserving water, a Waterwise home design can also help reduce household water and energy bills.

A typical home in a Waterwise Display Village will feature;

• Taps and showers, rated at 3 Star water rating or better.
• Appliances on display rated at 4 Star water rating or better.
• Water heating source positioned within five metres from the laundry (if a solar heater installed this may vary).
• Garden design will be waterwise and include a balanced mix of hard stand, garden beds and lawn.
• Soil is improved with a soil conditioner certified to Australian Standard AS4454 to a minimum depth of 150 mm where lawn is planted and minimum depth of 300 mm for garden beds.  For some soil conditioner ideas visit www.biowise.com.au.
