We have launched an online Waterwise Specialist - Garden and Irrigation training module as part of the Waterwise Programs.
This training module has been specifically developed to be appropriate for local government staff and covers effective gardening techniques, plant selection, soil preparation, mulching and irrigation considerations.
This training module has been specifically developed for local government building maintenance staff and administrators and covers the auditing process, the basics of how to conduct an audit and determine water savings and how to develop a recommendation plan.
In partnership with the Challenger Institute of Technology Murdoch we have developed an advanced level of Waterwise Specialist Training. The course will provide a general understanding of waterwise best practice as applied within the Horticultural and Landscaping industry. Training will cover soil and irrigation theory and practical as well as effective gardening techniques and waterwise concepts including; garden design, plant selection, soil preparation, hydrozoning, mulching, and irrigation considerations.
On completion of the course students will achieve a nationally recognised unit of competence that can be credited towards further study including a Certificate III in Horticulture.
The next course is scheduled for 13 March 2012.
