The Water Corporation
Changes to this section are underway, please be patient as we work on this.
Here you can check rainfall and dam levels and find out how declining rainfall is affecting the amount of water that flows into our dams. You can also learn where we source your water from and how our water usage is tracking.

We need steady, regular rain in order to soak our catchments and get the streams flowing into our dams. Declining rainfall means Perth's dams receive much less streamflow than in years past.
We measure streamflow each year and generally take the last measurement in December once the streamflow has stopped.
Watch our video to understand more about rainfall, streamflow and our drying catchments.
Because of our drying climate, dams are playing a declining role in Perth and the South West’s water supplies.

Our plan is to drought proof Perth against the full range of climate scenarios by 2022.
We plan to do this by utilising desalination, making use of more secure groundwater supplies and replenishing our deep aquifers with recycled water. We will also continue to make gains in water efficiency and wastewater recycling.
While we are working to secure our water sources and recycle more water, the whole community needs to continue to reduce the amount of water we all use – together, this will guarantee a secure, climate resilient water supply.
