Dwellingup Primary School has celebrated 10 years enrolled in Water Corporation’s Waterwise Schools Program at a special ceremony held recently.

As part of the program, teachers at the school have been educating students about the need to value, protect and conserve water resources for a decade

Water Corporation General Manager Customer and Community Group, Catherine Ferrari, thanked the school for its dedication to the program.

"Students are the water users of the future, so its important schools continue to educate students about the value of water in our drying climate," Ms Ferrari said.

"Thank you to students and teachers for your dedication to the program and I look forward to the next decade of waterwise education at Dwellingup Primary School.”

Dwellingup Primary School principal and school waterwise coordinator Colleen Sing has worked diligently to maintain the program.

Ms Sing said as a waterwise school they participated in National Water Week in October and World Water Day in March.

“We also have dual flush toilets throughout the school and water saving signs near the taps.”

“Dwellingup Primary School has always encouraged students, staff and community members to work towards creating and establishing an environmentally sustainable school. “

“Our school sees the waterwise schools program as being an integral part of our whole school environmental focus.  It is important that we respect our environment as this is an integral part of respecting ourselves,” Ms Sing said.

Now in its 20th year, Water Corporation’s award winning Waterwise Schools Program takes a long-term approach to water education and behavioural change, and complements the curriculum across all major learning areas, especially science
