What's happening?

As part of our ongoing commitment to future-proof Perth’s water supply, we will soon be renewing water pipes in East Fremantle and Melville. This work will improve the security and reliability of the water supply for decades to come.

Where is this happening?

We are currently in the planning and design development phase for the installation of a new main along Fraser Street, Petra Street, Fletcher Street, Moss Street, George Street, Silas Street, St Peter Road, and sections of Canning Highway between Council Street and Petra Street in the Town of East Fremantle and City of Melville. Please refer to the map underneath.

Why is this taking place?

This work will improve the security and reliability of the water supply for decades to come.

When is this taking place?

Our design consultant, GHD, will visit the area in April/May 2020 to assess the ground conditions and to locate underground services such as gas, power, telecommunication and water connections. All work will take place on weekdays between the hours of 7am and 5pm.

After the planning and detailed design phase has been completed, we will start to schedule the construction phase.

Construction work is planned to commence mid-2021, with an estimated duration of six to eight months (subject to change). Construction work will be completed between 7am and 7pm on weekdays and Saturdays, when required.

More detailed information including the start date, timeframes and our contractor details will be provided before construction work starts.

What are the impacts?

The work may generate some noise and dust, so we recommend keeping your windows and doors closed when the crews are working in front of your property. You may also start to see coloured markings along the street.

During the service locating and geotechnical survey work, there will be traffic management in place. There will be traffic management personnel on-site to ensure that there is consistent flow access to traffic.

Let us know if you have any concerns, as we are committed to working with you to minimise the impact and address any concerns you may have about this stage of the works.
