Project goal:

To produce renewable energy to supply the needs of the Stage 2 Advanced Water Recycling Plant, helping reduce our carbon emissions.

Status:

In construction

Delivery Date:

2022

What's happening?

We've commenced work on a Renewable Energy Generator at the Beenyup Water Resource Recovery Facility in Craigie, helping to reduce our carbon emissions by more than 10,000 tonnes per year.

The generator will use biogas, a by-product from the wastewater treatment process, to produce renewable energy to supply the needs of the Stage 2 Advanced Water Recycling Plant which forms part of the expansion of the Groundwater Replenishment Scheme.

This work will comprise construction of two engines, a biogas pre-treatment system, a heat recovery system and integration works at the Beenyup Water Resource Recovery Facility.

Where is this happening?

This work is close to the freeway on the Beenyup Water Resource Recovery Facility site, away from residential development. Noise from construction is expected to be minimal.
