We aim to provide safe and reliable water services to our customers, which are affordable and environmentally sound for future generations.
We are committed to complying with our environmental obligations, reducing our environmental impact, preventing pollution and continually improving our environmental performance.
This is supported by our Environment Policy and Environmental Management System, which enables a systematic identification of environmental risks, setting of targets and development of environment improvement plans to reduce risks and ensure our activities are sustainable. This system is based on implementing best practice, meeting our legal requirements and rigorous monitoring and reviewing of our performance.
We operate as a commercial entity with a licence to discharge treated wastewater to the environment in accordance with Department of Health, Department of Environment Regulation and legislative requirements. We are also a significant consumer of energy, chemicals and land.
We submit Annual Environmental Reports to the Department of Environment Regulation in accordance with our operating licences issued under Part V of the Environmental Protection Act 1986. The Annual Environmental Reports provide a summary of a Wastewater Treatment Plant's performance during the reporting year.
To reduce our impact on the environment we are focused on improving energy efficiency, ensuring our ocean outfall of wastewater is sustainable and investing in wastewater treatment processes that produce useful products, such as recycled water, biosolids and energy sources.
