Ellenbrook tank

back to current projects

Project goal:

Deliver water infrastructure to support projected growth in Ellenbrook and the growing north east metropolitan corridor.

Status:

In construction

Delivery Date:

Late 2018

Work is underway to build an 80 million litre capacity water storage tank to support projected growth in Ellenbrook and the growing north east metropolitan corridor. The tank is being constructed on Corporation land north of Gnangara Road, near the Hanson sand quarry.

The project also includes construction of 6 kilometres of large diameter water main to connect the tank to Perth's water supply.

Ellenbrook is currently supplied with water by a large main running along Gnangara Road. Once complete, the new tank will ensure Ellenbrook’s water supply is not interrupted in the unlikely event of a leak or burst on the water main. It will also ensure consistent water pressure in the area.

We are committed to minimising our impact on the surrounding environment. The project has been designed to reduce the amount of clearing required as much as possible. As part of the environmental approvals process, documents were submitted to the Commonwealth’s Department of the Environment and made available for public comment between 2 and16 March 2016. During this time, no comments were received.

We thank the local community for their cooperation as this important work is carried out.

Timing

Work on the tank project began in December 2016, with construction of the tank in June 2017. The project will be completed by late 2018.
