Why we acted

We became a part of the Water Efficiency Management Plan program in 2006 which showed us that our water use was very high. This led us to implement some innovative water efficiency measures.

How we did it

We have achieved our water saving through improvements and innovations in recycling and collecting rain water from the huge roof areas of the building. We run a wastewater treatment plant that is a mini version of Water Corporation’s Albany treatment plant.

We now recycle 6.8 million litres of water per year. Only a minimal amount of water goes through the cooling towers where most water loss occurs through evaporation.

What we are doing now

The next step for us is to focus on other water efficiency practices and continually improving their work practices.
