Waterwise Business Recognition 2018

We are pleased to recognise our waterwise participants in businesses, councils, commercial offices and land developments for their outstanding efforts in delivering water sensitive outcomes.

Waterwise Business Program

This program enables us to work closely and collaboratively with large business customers to support their ongoing efforts to reduce scheme water use.

It is mandatory for businesses using more than 20 million litres of scheme water per year and allows us to support these businesses in sustainable water management.

Platinum Waterwise Business - Carnamah Recreation Centre

The centre is a multi-purpose sports complex consisting of a football oval, hockey field, recreation centre, tennis courts, swimming pool, playground and bowling club. Among many other water efficiency initiatives, Carnamah Recreation Centre reduced reliance on scheme water for irrigation and replaced grassed tennis courts and bowling greens with synthetic turf, to deliver significant water savings.

Waterwise Council Program

The Waterwise Council Program, delivered in partnership with the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation, supports councils to adopt water sensitive principles in their operations and within their community. The recognition scheme recognises the vital role councils play in delivering water sensitive outcomes for WA and supporting ongoing demand management activities.

Platinum Waterwise Council - City of Subiaco

The City has shown innovation and leadership in embedding waterwise principles into its operations, and a whole of water cycle approach to sustainable water management. The City of Subiaco has been an active supporter of the work to make Perth a more Water Sensitive City through its community engagement and education initiatives, focus on biodiversity, urban environmental management, greening infrastructure and water sensitive urban design.

Waterwise Office Program

We've partnered with the Property Council of Australia and City of Perth to deliver the Waterwise Office Program to drive water use improvements in large commercial office buildings, one of highest non-residential consumers of scheme water, through recognition of best practice water management. Platinum Waterwise Office - 197 St Georges Terrace, Perth

Among many other water saving measures implemented within GDI Property Group's Mill Green Complex, highlights include a 4.5 star NABERS rating, cooling tower and retail shops sub-metering, tenant education and waterwise landscaping. The site has experienced a trending decline in water use as a result of a comprehensive water management plan and focus on sustainability across water, energy and waste outputs.

Waterwise Development Program

A partnership between Water Corporation and the Urban Development Institute of Australia EnviroDevelopment Program, the Waterwise Development Program recognises the importance of designing liveable homes and communities.
