A fenced stormwater drain has been transformed into a fun, nature-based playground thanks to water-sensitive design by the Town of Victoria Park.
The parkland has been enhanced with natural features designed to protect the environment and create a space for families and residents to enjoy. The biggest enhancement is the creation of an interactive nature play area, with alternative play equipment to encourage children’s creativity. The water-sensitive design uses a plant and rock-lined feature amenity to treat stormwater runoff from the nearby road and carpark. Additional trees and planting areas were included to improve the water quality of the lake (using native Melaleuca, Eucalyptus and Casuarina species). The area was landscaped to increase vegetation and habitat and reduce water use on the site.
