Pre-primary–Year 2

This interactive activity encourages students to mime the journeys of raindrops as they learn about where Perth gets its water from. The activity also briefly discusses the drinking water treatment process to ensure quality drinking water reaches our taps.

Years 3–6

This hands-on school talk provides a series of mini activities which allow students to explore each of Perth’s drinking water sources in detail. Students will also learn about the protection and treatment process of each of these sources.

  • Maximum number of students – 60

  • Understand the role of dams, groundwater and desalination.
  • Understand how and why we need to protect our catchment areas.
  • Understand basic water treatment processes of drinking water.

Years 7–10

During this lecture-style school talk, students will learn about Perth’s major water sources and the protection and treatment process of each. They will study the various threats to the sustainability of these sources and discuss what they can do as individuals to protect our precious resource. Students will learn what Water Corporation is doing to secure our future water sources.

  • Session length – 1 hour
  • Maximum number of students – unlimited

  • Understand the importance of water as a sustainable resource.
  • Understand the need to find alternative fresh water sources to secure our water supply.
  • Consider personal responsibilities in protecting our water sources.
