How many litres of water do people use in Perth each year?

Water supplied per person is the amount of water we supply to Perth divided by the population. It includes water supplied to both residential and non-residential customers. In 2017-18 it was 123 kilolitres per person per year.

Most Perth residents continue to reduce their water use – amazingly by 35% since 2001. We now have similar water supplied per capita to that of Adelaide and are approaching that of Canberra and Sydney. Well done!

But, there’s always more we can do and we’ve got a lot’s of tips that can help you save water.

If you live in the Perth metro area or Peel region, you can compare your water use with similar households with our Water Watchers online tool.
