Get to know your irrigation system
Our irrigation systems often need more attention than we give them, and they can waste a lot of water while we’re busy doing other things. So this year, make sure you know the basics, like how to switch your irrigation off when it rains, and how to reduce your watering times while it's still cool.
All you need is a few minutes, and the manual to your system.
Can't find it? Don't worry! You might be able to find a copy online.
Now that you know what type of system you have, you can set each station run time to make sure you're watering as efficiently as you can – saving you both water and money!
Many of us have a fixed spray sprinkler system, so set your run time to 10 minutes per station to maintain a healthy garden.
Spend some quality time together
Don’t just set-and-forget your irrigation system this year, spend some time to really get to know it. Start by:
- taking a few minutes to make sure sprinklers aren’t pointing at the footpath or driveway
- replacing worn nozzles and broken seals with quality parts
- checking the batteries in your irrigation controller – or replace them if it's been a while!
