Help us stop the monster!

Remember: only soap and water down the sink. Paper, pee and poo down the loo!

What's feeding the monster?

Cotton buds, toothbrushes, toys, golf balls, kitty litter and nappies are just some of the things that make their way into our pipes and fatten up the monster. But the real culprits are:

Cooking fats and oils Sanitary products Chemicals Wet wipes

Around 30% of blockages are caused by fats, oil and grease solidifying in our pipes.

Nappies, sanitary napkins, tampons and cottons buds should all be wrapped and placed in a bin.

Contact a licensed contractor or your local council for disposal options for paint, fertiliser, pesticides or oils.

They might be called 'flushable' but wet wipes just don't disintegrate like regular toilet paper.

There's no monster spray for these fiends!

When the monsters get big enough to block the wastewater system, they become a real problem. Keeping our network of wastewater pipes and pumps clear and healthy is a large part of what we do, but removing these blockages can be tricky and expensive – and if it's on your property, it may cost you.

The raw numbers

We take away and treat the wastewater from over 2 million people every day. We all need to work together to minimise the cost of maintaining the system.
