We will arrange for a licensed plumber to complete a free check of your home, including:

  • Check toilets taps and showers for leaks
  • Repair leaks
  • Repair or upgrade any inefficient fixtures

It's important that you read and understand the terms and conditions before registering for a household plumbing service.

Water Corporation’s Plumbing Repair and Retrofit Service intends to repair, retrofit or replace existing residential plumbing which is not water efficient.

Plumbers will carry out an inspection of the plumbing at your property and determine whether any plumbing fixtures need to be repaired, retrofitted or replaced in order to ensure the fixtures are water efficient.

Water Corporation offers this Service in accordance with the following terms and conditions. By participating in and registering for this service, you have accepted these terms and conditions.

Definitions

The terms in these conditions have the following meaning:

  1. Corporation means Water Corporation;
  2. Fixture means taps, toilet cisterns, valves and washers;
  3. Inspection means the Plumber’s inspection of your property to identify and document the repair, retrofit and replacement requirements for Fixtures at your property;
  4. Plumber means a licensed plumber approved by the Corporation;
  5. Program means the Corporation’s free Waterwise Plumbing Repair and Retrofit Service;
  6. You means the person wishing to participate in the Program;
  7. Service means the plumbing services provided to repair, retrofit and/or replace plumbing Fixtures provided in accordance with the Program;
  8. WELS means the Australian Government Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards scheme.

Eligibility

  1. To qualify for this Program, your property must be a residential property located in the towns listed on the Corporation’s website at www.watercorporation.com.au/save-water/water-saving-offers/plumbing-retrofits and serviced by Water Corporation.

  2. Tenants may participate in the Program by seeking approval from the property owner or property owner’s agent. Approval must be communicated by the property owner or property owner’s agent to the Corporation’s Waterwise Towns Team on (08) 9423 7117 or waterwise.towns@watercorporation.com.au. Please note that approval must be obtained and provided to the Corporation before a Plumber can be engaged.

  3. The Corporation may offer the Program to non-residential properties in its sole and absolute discretion.

Registration and assignment of Plumber

  1. If You wish to participate in the Program, You need to contact the Corporation on 08 9423 7117 or by email waterwise.towns@watercorporation.com.au and register Your interest in the Program.

  2. By registering for this Program, You agree and consent to the Corporation providing your name, address and contact details to the Plumber in order for the Plumber to contact You to arrange the Inspection and to undertake the Services.

  3. Once the Corporation has determined that You are eligible for the Program, the Corporation will provide your details to a Plumber and the Plumber will contact You to arrange an Inspection of your property.

  4. Registrations of interest must be received by 31 May 2020.

General provisions of Service

  1. The Service will be provided by a Plumber who will:

    i. undertake the Inspection;
    ii. recommend what work is required to upgrade water inefficient Fixtures; and
    iii. obtain approval from the Corporation to undertake the Services.

  2. The Plumber will determine, with the Corporation’s approval, which Fixtures are required to be repaired, retrofitted and/or replaced and what product/s the Fixture is to be repaired, retrofitted or replaced with.

  3. The Corporation will pay the cost of:

    i. the Inspection; and
    ii. any repairs, retrofit or replacement of existing Fixtures deemed necessary by the Plumber to ensure that the plumbing is water efficient.

Provision of Services to residential properties

  1. For residential properties, the Services are limited to:

    i. an Inspection;
    ii. repair of leaking taps or toilet cisterns by conducting maintenance and replacement of worn valves/washers, where required; and
    iii. evaporative air conditioner system check and reset (if required).

  2. Water inefficient Fixtures to be retrofitted and/or replaced with new water efficient Fixtures as follows:

    i. retrofit of appropriate WELS star rated taps (higher rated taps for hand basins compared with sinks) in kitchens and bathrooms;
    ii. where available, retrofit of ‘WELS 3 star rated’ water efficient showerheads, replacing inefficient showerheads (fixed and flexible showerheads only);
    iii. where available, retrofit of ‘WELS 4 star rated’ aerators to sink/basin taps where suitable and required for greater efficiency;
    iv. where available, retrofit of ‘WELS 4 star rated’ toilets to replace single flush toilets or old high volume dual flush toilets.

Provision of Services to non- residential properties

  1. For non-residential properties, where non-residential customers are offered the opportunity to participate in the Program, the Service will be limited to:

    i. an Inspection;
    ii. repair leaking taps, toilet cisterns and urinals at the property by conducting maintenance and replacing worn valves/washers where required (damaged tap fixtures/piping is not included)
    iii. evaporative air conditioner system check and reset (if required).

  2. Inefficient plumbing Fixtures to be retrofitted with new water efficient fixtures as follows:

    i. retrofit standard taps with more robust external taps less likely to leak or be left running for caravan parks or similar sites where required;
    ii. retrofit of appropriate WELS star rated taps (higher rated taps for hand basins compared with sinks) in kitchens and bathrooms;
    iii. where available, retrofit ‘WELS 3 star rated’ water efficient showerheads, replacing inefficient showerheads (fixed and flexible showerheads only);
    iv. where available, retrofit ‘WELS 4 star rated’ aerators to sink/basins taps where suitable and required for greater water efficiency (not available for flick-mix tap sets);
    v. where available, retrofit of ‘WELS 4 star rated’ toilets to replace single flush toilets or old high volume dual flush toilets.

Other terms and conditions

  1. The Corporation is not liable for any damage, claims or loss whatsoever suffered as a result of You participating in the Program, unless, and only to the extent that, the Corporation has been negligent.

  2. For avoidance of doubt, the Corporation is not liable for any plumbing work undertaken by the Plumber.

  3. The Corporation does not have any interest in or ownership of, any Fixtures installed, provided, repaired, retrofitted or replaced in accordance with the Program.

  4. It is Your responsibility to maintain, repair or replace any Fixtures installed, provided, repaired, retrofitted or placed in accordance with the Program.

  5. Please contact the Plumber and/or manufacturer, directly, to obtain your warranty and/or if you experience any product faults with your new Fixtures.
