To retain a waterwise council status your local government must address the following re-endorsement steps annually.

Please submit your completed annual report or plan by 31 October 2023.

If you wish to apply to become a new Waterwise Council or Gold Waterwise Council, please complete the Waterwise Council Action Plan template.

Step 1 – download our report template

If you have a current WCAP or are a current endorsed Waterwise Council, you can apply for re-endorsement by completing the Waterwise Council Re-endorsement Report template.

Step 2 – no breaches

The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) and Water Corporation will verify there have been no breaches of the watering roster and groundwater use as part of the re-endorsement process.

This will be verified upon your report submission each year.

Step 3 – apply for Gold and Platinum (optional)

The Waterwise Council Recognition Scheme recognises local government's efforts in driving liveability outcomes across the water cycle and their valuable contributions to creating waterwise cities and communities.

Waterwise Councils can apply to be a Gold Waterwise Council through the expanded criteria aligned with the Water Sensitive Cities Index within the Waterwise Council Action Plan template.

As a Gold Waterwise Council, you can apply to be Platinum Waterwise Council of the Year by completing a Platinum Application form.

Step 4 - submit

Submit your completed annual waterwise council re-endorsement report or action plan by 31 October 2023 to wepartnerships@watercorporation.com.au.

Recognition scheme winners will be announced at our annual Waterwise Recognition Event in May 2024.
