What is happening
We are replacing bridges in Kronkup and Youngs Siding to ensure the long term safety of road users and the protection of properties. These bridges will be replaced with concrete structures with upgraded guard rails and other improvements where needed.
Where is this happening
The following five bridges will be replaced:
Thomas Road, Kronkup, Albany - Water Corporation Bridge No 12
Catt Road, Youngs Siding, Albany - Water Corporation Bridge No 165
Freeborough Road, Youngs Siding, Albany - Water Corporation Bridge No 114
Dawson Road, Youngs Siding, Albany - Water Corporation Bridge No 162
Morley Road, Youngs Siding, Albany - Water Corporation Bridge No 109
When is this happening
The overall package of work is expected to commence after mid-January 2020 and is expected to be completed by May 2020.
Construction will commence and be completed at different times for each bridge, taking into consideration the needs of the relevant community and reducing the time each bridge is closed. An updated schedule for each bridge will be provided closer to construction starting.
The majority of work will be completed Monday to Friday between 7am and 7pm.
What is the impact during construction?
Each bridge will be closed during construction, however, a bypass or alternative access has been arranged with each resident where the bridge is on the only route to a property.
There will be traffic management in place during construction to direct road users safely around the work and detours will be in place where required.
Consultation with appropriate fire and emergency response stakeholders has been undertaken to ensure emergency response is not impacted.
