What is happening?
Water Corporation is upgrading Beckenham’s wastewater system to improve wastewater services in the City of Gosnells.
The upgrade includes:
- construction of a below ground wastewater pumping station
- installation of approximately 1.5 km of wastewater pipeline.
The pipeline will be laid on the western side of Bromley Street and the northern side of Beckenham Street.
Please refer to the map below for the work areas.
Work will begin mid-February and will take approximately 5 months to complete.
The majority of work will be completed Monday to Friday between 7am and 5pm, some day work on Saturday may be required.
What are the impacts?
Noise will be kept to a minimum however, construction will involve road cutting, excavating and compacting. These activities are most likely to occur within the first 10 weeks of construction.
We anticipate any work directly fronting private property will take a few days.
Commencing 19 March 2018, road closures will occur in sections while installation of the pipe is in progress:
- Wimbledon St (Ladywell St to Harris St) 19 March – 23 March
- Harris St (Wimbledon St to Harris St) 26 March – 30 March
- Bromley St 3 April – 6 April
- Beckenham St (Bromley St to Albany Hwy) 9 April – 13 April
Traffic management will be in place during construction. Please note times listed above may change slightly as construction schedules may vary.
Trenchless technology will be used for the Albany Highway crossing to minimise traffic impacts.
Private property access
Access will be interrupted for up to a day while we are completing the section of pipe directly out the front of affected residents’ properties, however we will liaise with residents prior to any access restrictions.
Specific access requirements can be forwarded onto the Project Team and we will work with residents where possible to minimise impact as much as possible.
