Our authorised contractor, Avid Resources, will soon commence work to upgrade wastewater infrastructure in the City of Swan and Shire of Mundaring.
The work includes:
Upgrade the existing Elder Way wastewater pump station; and
Construct a 315mm diameter pressure wastewater pipeline approximately 400 metres long, along Katharine Street.
Where is this happening?
Please refer to the below map of the work area.
Why is this taking place?
We are upgrading Bellevue’s wastewater system to improve the disposal of wastewater in the City of Swan and Shire of Mundaring.
When is this taking place?
Work is expected to begin in March 2020 and is estimated to be completed by September 2020. The majority of work will be completed Monday to Saturday between 7am and 6pm as approved by your local council. Some Sunday work may be required – we will provide notification once this is confirmed.
How will this impact the community?
Noise will be kept to a minimum however, construction will involve road cutting, excavating and compacting. These activities are most noticeable at the start and finish of our work, when we cut the road and excavate, and then when we backfill and compact to reinstate the road.
The majority of work will take place in the verge and road reserves. In order to safely conduct this work, there will be traffic management in place during construction to direct road users and pedestrians safely around the work.
When the Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) begins, estimated in late March, a single lane road closure will be in place in the southbound lane of Katharine Street to enable excavation and pipe installation as the project progresses. There will be detours and reduced speed in place.
Public Transport – Bus Route 322
There will be changes to the Clayton Street stop on bus service route 322 due to the work. Please refer to the Transperth website for more information.
As part of this work, two trees will need to be removed in the park on the corner of Katharine Street and Elder Way, to allow sufficient access to lay the pipe; however, all significant trees will be retained. We will work with the Shire of Mundaring to replace the trees and revegetate after construction work is complete.
