Broome wastewater system upgrades

back to current projects

Project goal:

To improve the disposal of wastewater in the Shire of Broome

In construction

Delivery Date:

November 2017

We have upgraded Broome’s wastewater system to improve the disposal of wastewater in the Shire of Broome.
This will allow us to continue our West Kimberly Community Grant Scheme.

The works include:

  • Construction of 3.33 km of wastewater pressure main along Gubinge Road Reserve (see 'Map of area' tab);

  • Upgrade to the pump station located at the corner of Gubinge Road and Cable Beach Road East; and

  • Reinstatement of affected areas.

This program of work commenced in September 2017 and is now complete, with only some reinstatement work remaining.

The vegetation along Gubinge Road will be monitored and if native species do not regenerate (outside of the pipeline area), we will explore other reinstatement options. The area above the pipe itself must be kept clear of vegetation for access reasons, and spraying of the area will be carried out when required.

We thank the Broome community for their patience and understanding while this essential work was completed.
