Busselton wastewater upgrades

Upgrading wastewater infrastructure and services in west Busselton.

back to current projects

Project goal:

To improve the disposal of wastewater in west Busselton.

Status:

In construction

Delivery Date:

End of 2019

What’s happening?

We are currently completing our work on the Centurion Way Wastewater Pipeline, and will shortly begin construction on a new wastewater pump station in the Stonebridge Estate. Our authorised contractor CD Drilling has completed 75% of all work on the Centurion Way pipeline. See our Project updates tab for the latest news.

Leeuwin Civil, our authorised contractor on the new wastewater pumping station, is due to start work in mid-September near Kookaburra Way, West Busselton. You will have received a notification if you live in the vicinity of this work.

Where is this happening?

The work will install approximately 1.6 kilometres of wastewater pipeline along Melaleuca Drive, Fairway Drive, Edith Agnes Circle and Mary Elizabeth Ramble. The pipeline will cross the Broadwater Nature reserve (underground) and join the existing wastewater pipes on Centurion Way. Refer to the map below for the work area.

The work includes construction of approximately 340m ofbelow ground wastewater pipeline, work on the existing gravity sewer and a new wastewater pumpstation. The location of this work is shown on the below map.

When is this happening?

Work commenced in late April 2019 and will be completed by the beginning of 2020 on both projects. The majority of work will be completed Monday to Friday between 7am and 5pm. Some weekend and night work may be required, however we will notify affected residents closer to the time.

How will this impact the community?

Local residents in these areas should expect medium-level noise from trucks and an excavator laying pipework.

There will also be some low-level vibrations and dust present. We also request that road verges be kept clear over this period, closest to the road reserve along the pipeline route.

Throughout the duration of the work traffic management will be in place along the pipeline construction route and during deep excavation along Kookaburra Way.

Please be assured that any affected area will be reinstated as closely as possible to its condition prior to the work.

Project update - July 2019

Work is progressing well with 60% of the project now complete. Drilling along Mary Elizabeth Ramble, Edith Agnes Circle, Fairway Drive and the New River crossing is now complete.

Pits are still open in the area to allow for pipe laying, so please be cautious. There may be temporary footpath closures in the area, please follow the diversion signs.

Drilling along Melaleuca Drive is continuing. Due to rock being encountered along Melaleuca Drive there may be a change in methodology required, meaning that open excavation may occur near the junction of Melaleuca Drive and Queen Elizabeth Drive. This will be kept to a minimum, with no additional affects being felt by customers in the area.

Increased construction traffic will continue to be present, so please follow the traffic management signs in the area closely.
