We are installing an emergency generator and a high capacity sprinkler fire protection system at the existing Chidlow pump station site. The emergency generator will only be used in the event of a power failure and when electrical maintenance is required.
From Wednesday 18 October to Friday 20 October, 2017 we will be required to test the generator to ensure it has been installed correctly. During this period, customers will experience a medium-level humming noise from the running of the generator at this site. This noise will be the equivalent to operating a lawn mower. On Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 October, 2017 we will also need to set up for this testing, which will involve delivery of materials and equipment to the area. This work will be carried out between the normal working hours of 7am and 5pm, on these days. All residents within close vicinity to pump station will be notified via mail.
General impacts throughout work
- Medium-level construction noise is expected during installation of the new generator.
- The generator is designed to minimise impact to the surrounding environment and provide minimal noise disturbance once in operation.
Construction started in June 2017 and is expected to be completed by the end of October 2017.
Work will be carried out between the hours of 7am–5pm, Monday to Friday. Works may also be required on Saturdays between these hours.
