In order to improve water supply security for the Great Southern Region in our increasingly drying climate, we are connecting the Integrated Water Supply System (IWSS) with the Great Southern Town Water Supply Scheme (GSTWS).
An 8km pipeline will be built from the southern end of Stirling Dam and will connect to an existing pipeline to the north west of Harris Dam. A new pump station will be built at the Stirling Dam which will allow water to be pumped directly into the supply main for the GSTWS when water levels in Harris Dam are low.
Work will be undertaken between December 2016 and December 2017. During this time there will be temporary closures to picnic areas, recreational trails and minor roads. Please see the other tab for further information.
We are committed to environmental management through the State Forest and is engaging a zoologist to find and relocate native fauna prior to clearing in the area. We have also worked closely with Department of Parks and Wildlife to ensure the area is rehabilitated following construction, to enable natural regeneration of vegetation.
