In January 2018, Water Corporation began work to upgrade the wastewater infrastructure in Two Rocks and Yanchep.
This work includes the construction of:
- 4.2 km of wastewater main along Two Rocks Road in Two Rocks;
- 1 km of wastewater main along Lisford Avenue in Two Rocks;
- 1 km of wastewater main along the extension of Marmion Avenue in Yanchep;
- new below ground wastewater pump station on Charnwood Reserve; and an
- upgrade of the existing Abrolhos Close Wastewater Pump Station.
Our authorised contractor is RCR Water. Their site office is located on Charnwood Reserve.
We are working with the City of Wanneroo to minimise impacts on the community as much as possible and now expect to complete the upgrade work in late 2018.
What are the community impacts?
Progress so far
Since work began in January 2018, nearly 3 kilometres of wastewater pipeline has been installed along Two Rocks Road. We are also in the final stages of constructing a 1 kilometre section of wastewater pipeline within the road reserve of the future extension of Marmion Avenue in Yanchep.
The new below ground wastewater pump station on Charnwood Reserve and upgrade of the existing Abrolhos Close Wastewater Pump Station are in the early stages of construction.
Work near Lisford Avenue and Sovereign Drive intersection
Work will begin in early August to install the last section of wastewater pipeline near the Lisford Avenue and Sovereign Drive intersection in Two Rocks.
We will continue to work between 7.00 am and 5.00 pm, from Monday to Friday as approved by the City of Wanneroo and expect to complete this section of work by the end of August 2018.
During this time, residents and shopping centre visitors may notice more noise and vehicles in the area, however we will do all we can to minimise impact on the community as much as possible.
While traffic management will be in place near the intersection, access to the Two Rocks Shopping Centre and Yanchep Public Library will not be restricted.
Dewatering work at Charnwood Reserve
Work is underway to build a new below ground wastewater pump station on Charnwood Reserve. To complete this work, we need to operate equipment during the night to reduce ground water levels. This is known as dewatering and involves the use of generators and electric pumps which operate 24 hours a day.
Dewatering work began in mid July and is expected to be finished in mid August.
During this time, residents may notice more noise and vehicles in the area, however we will do all we can to minimise impact on the community as much as possible. This includes the use of sound barriers and vibration mats around the generators and regular sound monitoring.
While generators will operate at all hours, construction work will be completed in this area between 7.00 am and 5.00 pm, from Monday to Friday as approved by the City of Wanneroo.
Traffic management and road closures
Residents and commuters will notice construction work from the intersection of Lisford Avenue and Sovereign Drive and as work progresses south along Two Rocks Road.
Traffic management will be in place to direct vehicles and pedestrians safely around the work area, with only partial road closures required on Two Rocks Road during some sections of work.
Two Rocks Road will remain open to traffic at all times.
We will not require access to private property during this work.
To build the new wastewater pump station, four trees (two peppermint trees and two coastal moort trees) have been removed on Charnwood Reserve. As agreed with the City of Wanneroo, these trees will be replaced with twelve smaller trees (six peppermint trees and six coastal moort trees) once the pump station has been completed.
The Bush Forever site along Two Rocks Road will not be impacted during this work. Some trees along the western side of Two Rocks Road reserve have also been removed to install the new wastewater main and we will work with the City of Wanneroo to replace the trees after construction work is complete.
