Water Corporation will begin work in mid-May on a suite of water supply upgrades on Wyndham’s water reticulation network in the Shire of Wyndham-East Kimberley.
This work includes constructing the following new water supply main sections:
375 m of water supply main within the road reserve of Gully Road
245 m of water supply main along Barytes Road
270 m of water supply main along Gulley Road to supply Wyndham’s Port service.
This work will improve the water quality and pressure supplied to customers in the Wyndham Port area.
Roadline Civil Contractors have been authorised to complete this work and will be the contractor for the entire project.
Local residents in these areas should expect medium-level noise from trucks and an excavator laying pipework.
There will also be some low-level vibrations and dust present. We also request that road verges be kept clear over this period, closest to the road reserve along the pipeline route.
A one lane road closure will occur along Wyndham Heritage Trail from Gulley Road; however this will only be in place for a day or two. Further details on the timing of this road impact will be provided in due course. Throughout the duration of the work traffic management will be in place along the pipeline construction route and road users will be asked to keep to the reduced speed limit, which will be indicated through signage in these areas.
From mid-May to the end of July 2018, the following activities will take place:
The contractor will set up their main construction base within the fenced site of the Wyndham Port.
This site will house the plant and materials required for the project and portable buildings will also be set up at this location.
Surveying and service location: Surveyors will work with service locators, who will mark out the pipeline route and pothole the existing underground services in the path of this work.
Clearing: A small amount of clearing will be required as part of this work. This will involve using an excavator to clear some small shrubs and vegetation.
Following this work, the construction crew will construct the new pipework using open trench excavation, cutting into the existing mains to connect the new pipes to the current network. This trench will be backfilled and restored as we install the new pipe.
Working hours will be 6am to 6pm, Monday to Sunday.
