Yanchep is supplied with water from local bores. It is important that the Yanchep community continue to reduce water use, especially during the peak summer period.
Around 90% of water supplied to Yanchep is used by households.
When the weather is hot, water use doubles, which is why it is important to be waterwise.
What are we doing to reduce water use in Yanchep?
All properties in Yanchep are fitted with a smart water meter. The meter allows property owners and occupiers to access real-time water use information from their My Water account.
A smart meter records water use by the hour and provides information on how and when water is used in and around the home. A smart water meter can help detect leaks, monitor usage lead to saved water and costs.

Contingency water supply
In 2016 we built a pipeline that connects Yanchep to Perth's water supply. If demand exceeds supply, this contingency pipeline can be used to top up Yanchep’s water supply.
We are also building a new production bore in late 2018, which will deliver 8 million litres of water per day to customers. The new bore will assist in providing a more reliable supply during these times and will be installed within the existing Water Corporation site, along Finke Bend.
