• All recreational areas at dams in Perth hills and the South West to be closed over the weekend
  • Water Corporation asks the community to postpone visits to dams to help reduce the risk of a bushfire

Recreational areas at dams located in the Perth hills and the South West region will be closed as of 5pm on Friday, 6 February 2015 and over the weekend to reduce the risk of a bushfire.

The decision to close 20 dam recreational areas follows the Department of Parks and Wildlife’s closure of National Parks due to bushfire activity.

Water Corporation will reassess the situation on Monday and provide further information to the public about access to its dams.

Perth hills

All sites in the Perth hills will have a notice placed on all entry points advising of closure due to fire hazard. All BBQ gas bottles will be closed and locked.

The following public areas will be closed at all times on Saturday and Sunday:

Mundaring Weir: Boom gates to picnic areas and security gates on the dam wall will remain closed and locked. Access to the public road (Mundaring Weir Road) around the dam wall will be un-restricted.

Victoria Dam: Boom gates at the Masonmill Rd entry and Bickley entry will remain closed and locked.

Canning Dam: Boom gates to picnic areas, operations area and security gates to the dam wall will remain closed and locked.

Churchman Brook Dam: Boom gate at main entrance will remain closed and locked.

Wungong Dam: Boom gates on Admiral and Springfield Rds will remain closed and locked. The boom gate beyond the site water tank will be signed as no entry.

Serpentine Pipehead Dam: Boom gate at Day Rd entry will remain closed and locked.

Serpentine Main Dam: Boom gates to picnic areas and playground area will remain closed and locked. Access to the public road (Kingsbury Drive) across the dam wall will be un-restricted.

North Dandalup Dam: Boom gates to picnic areas will remain closed and locked. Access to the road (Scarp Road) across the dam wall will be un-restricted.

South Dandalup Dam: Boom gate at entry on Del Park Rd will remain closed and locked.

South West

Water Corporation asks the community not to access public areas and/or carry out recreational activities at the below dams on Saturday and Sunday:

Wellington Dam: Refrain from accessing public areas and recreational activities at the dam.

Logue Brook Dam: Refrain from accessing public areas and recreational activities at the dam.

Harvey Dam: Refrain from accessing public areas and recreational activities at the dam.

Harris Dam: Refrain from accessing public areas at the dam.

Waroona Dam: Refrain from accessing public areas and recreational activities at the dam.

Drakes Brook Dam: Refrain from accessing public areas and recreational activities at the dam.

Ten Mile Brook Dam: Refrain from accessing public areas at the dam.

Big Brook Dam:  Refrain from accessing public areas and recreational activities at the dam.

Glen Mervyn Dam: Refrain from accessing public areas and recreational activities at the dam.

Stirling Dam: Refrain from accessing public areas at the dam.

Samson Dam: Refrain from accessing public areas at the dam.
