Water Corporation customers in Port Hedland, Cooke Point and Pretty Pool will experience a six hour water outage from midnight Saturday, 11 June to 6am Sunday, 12 June 2016 while essential work takes place.

A new isolation valve will be installed at the Spinifex Hill water storage tank to enhance the reliability of the water supply in the area.

Water Corporation North West Regional Manager, Rino Trolio, said the work would take place overnight to reduce inconvenience to customers.

“Customers in Port Hedland, Cooke Point and Pretty Pool will be affected, but there will be no impact to customers in South Hedland and Wedgefield,” Mr Trolio said.

“We encourage our customers in Port Hedland, Cooke Point and Pretty Pool to prepare for the interruption by filling kettles and drinking bottles, and showering before water supplies are interrupted.”

Once water supply resumes at 6am, some customers may experience discoloured water for a short period. Temporary discoloured water may occur when we undertake this type of work as small amounts of natural sediment that settles within pipes over time is stirred up and causes discolouration. This sediment is harmless and the water is safe for use. Running the garden tap closest to your water meter for two minutes should clear the discolouration.

Customers with special water requirements should call Water Corporation’s 24-hour faults, emergencies and security line on 13 13 75 prior to the interruption to make alternative arrangements.

"I thank our customers in advance for the cooperation and understanding during these essential water supply works," Mr Trolio said.
