• The Water Corporation's new Waterwise Garden Rewards program will help save water in the garden

  • Offers available for selected mulch, soil improver and soil wetting agent can be redeemed at Bunnings stores across WA

The Water Corporation will launch its Waterwise Garden Rewards today - a new program to help the community save water in the garden.

Water Minister Mia Davies said a reward for buying mulch, soil improver and soil wetting agent would be available as part of the program, to prepare gardens for the hot summer ahead.

"Through this program, Water Corporation customers can purchase a selected product at Bunnings stores across the State - then the Water Corporation will pay for one or two more depending on each offer," Ms Davies said.

"More than 40 per cent of household water use occurs in the garden, so by getting your hands dirty now, you can help save water this summer."

Offers available through the program are:

  • Mulch:  Buy four bags and the Water Corporation will pay for one more; or buy eight bags and the Water Corporation will pay for two more

  • Soil improver:  Buy eight bags and the Water Corporation will pay for two more

  • Soil wetting agent:  Buy one bottle/bag and the Water Corporation will pay for one more.

Mulch, soil wetting agent and soil improver help gardens and lawns retain moisture and make the most of the water applied.  By preparing gardens, the community can avoid the temptation to over-water when temperatures increase.

The Minister said reduced water use formed part of the Water Corporation's long-term plans to secure water supplies in the drying climate.

"We all have a responsibility to use water wisely and I encourage the community to take part in this great program and help save water," she said.
