Recent floods and wastewater update Monday
Water Corporation crews have reduced the levels of storage ponds at the Northam Wastewater Treatment Plant overnight, which received a large inflow of stormwater after the recent bad weather.
An advisory remains in place for people not to swim, fish or recreate in the Avon River in the vicinity of Northam until further notice, as a precautionary measure.
The treatment plant is now discharging only treated wastewater into the Avon River.
Water Corporation will issue a media statement lifting its advisory when wastewater operations return to normal operations.
Water Corporation crews have been able to access wastewater pump stations in Wagin, Narrogin, Williams and Katanning over the weekend and resume normal operations.
The community is reminded to keep away from stormwater drains, which may be temporally full of fast-flowing water after this heavy rain.
Water Corporation has maintained water supplies for its customers across Western Australia throughout the flooding events.
Any customers who may experience issues with their Water Corporation services can call our 24-hour line 13 13 75.
Note: Wastewater is 99.97 per cent water as it comes mostly from showers, baths and washing machines.
