Incident updates

UPDATE AS AT 1.30pm, 12 June 2025

While assessing the water main this morning, our crews have identified a small leak caused by the pressure changes during recharge last night.

To prevent any further bursts from occurring, and a longer period of disruption, we will need to complete repairs this afternoon.

This will result in a temporary water outage from 2.30pm - 4.30pm this afternoon, Thursday 12 June 2025.

After this, we will commence recharging the main which may take some time to reach all homes again.

We expect supply will be returned to normal this evening. Bottled water will be available at the Irwin Recreational Centre during this time.

We sincerely apologise for the further disruption, however, to prevent any lengthy outages this planned repair work is essential.

UPDATE AS AT 10am, 12 June 2025

Water supply has now been restored to the Dongara and Port Denison communities.

You may have some discoloured water throughout the day, which is a result of natural sediments being stirred in the pipe.

This is safe to drink and will clear as the water moves through the network in the next few hours.

To help water move through your internal plumbing faster, you can run the tap nearest to your meter for 2 minutes.

If you have any ongoing concerns regarding your supply, please contact us on 13 13 75.

We sincerely apologise for the disruption over the last few days.

UPDATE AS AT 8.00pm, 11 June 2025

Our crews have now completed repairs to the burst main and recharge is underway. We expect full supply to be restored in the next 2-3 hours.

Due to the change in flow, customers may experience temporary discoloured water as supply is restored. This is a result of the natural sediment in the pipe being stirred up, and is safe to consume.

Customers can run the tap closest to their water meter for two minutes which may help return water to its normal appearance. We will be scouring the mains to assist this process, and you may notice small pools of water along the main as a result.

We'd like to thank the community for their patience and apologise for the disruption in recent days.

UPDATE AS AT 1.20pm, 11 June 2025

Customers in Dongara and Port Denison will experience a temporary water outage from about 3pm - 6pm this afternoon, Wednesday 11 June 2025.

While we were able to make a temporary fix to the burst main yesterday, a small number of customers are experiencing low water flow.

To restore pressure and supply to standard operating levels for all residents, we will need to isolate the main to install a valve, which will result in a temporary water outage.

Once water is restored this afternoon, you may notice temporary water discolouration caused by natural sediment being stirred up in the pipes.

Please be assured your water is still safe to use, and discolouration will clear with normal use. Again, we sincerely apologise and thank you for your patience as we carry out these repairs.

If you have urgent water needs, please contact our Faults, emergencies and security line on 13 13 75 (24 hours).

UPDATE AS AT 10.30am, 11 June 2025

Water Corporation are working to fully restore water supply in Dongara and Port Denison.

A temporary repair is in place which is providing supply to the majority of customers; however, we are aware there may be a small number of people still impacted.

Crews from Perth are on their way to site with a specialised valve which we anticipate will allow us to return to full pressure and supply.

This valve will be installed this afternoon. During this time there may be a temporary water outage to the whole town. We will provide an update on the timing for this soon and any potential impacts.

Until repairs are completed, we remind the community to continue to only use water for essential purposes only.

We understand this situation is incredibly frustrating for residents impacted by the interruption to supply, and we sincerely apologise.

UPDATE AS AT 5pm, 10 June 2025

We are currently completing emergency works on a burst water main affecting Dongara and Port Denison. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and want to reassure you that our crews are working as quickly as possible to complete the repairs.

While a temporary repair is in place, we have not been able to recharge the main to full pressure. To help maintain supply, we ask you to please limit non-essential water use. This includes:

  • Avoiding washing vehicles, boats, or pets.
  • Not leaving hoses running or hosing down pavements.
  • Avoiding topping up pools and spas.
  • Keeping showers to 4 minutes and skipping baths, or limiting them to a small volume if essential.
  • Restricting use of water-using appliances, including washing machines.
  • Using a plug in the sink to capture rinse water for reuse.

You may notice temporary water discolouration caused by natural sediment being stirred up in the pipes. Please be assured your water is still safe to use, and discolouration will clear with normal use.

Further repairs are required to secure a permanent fix. A planned outage will occur in the coming days, and we will be in touch again with more information.

Once again, we sincerely apologise and thank you for your support and cooperation.
