Whether you or an external professional is installing or repairing your irrigation system, when it comes to testing there are a few things which you need to consider, select which one applies to you to find out more:

You can only test your newly installed or repaired irrigation system on your allocated watering days; this applies during and outside the winter sprinkler switch off. We encourage that testing takes place before 9am or after 6pm. Please ensure that testing is limited to a maximum of 2 minutes per station.

You can call us in advance and advise us of the testing. We can then add a note to your account so that in the case that someone reports a breach, we are aware that testing is taking place.

Please take note of the following when testing your irrigation:

  • You must be in attendance in the garden area where the sprinklers are operating
  • There must be some evidence of the repairs or evidence that the system has just been installed
  • Inspectors will ask to view repairs.

If you have employed a professional to install or repair your irrigation system, they can perform testing on or outside your allocated watering days. We encourage that testing takes place before 9am or after 6pm. Testing must be limited to a maximum of 2 minutes per station.

During the winter sprinkler switch off they can also perform the testing on or outside your rostered watering days — testing should still be limited to a maximum of 2 minutes per station.

Your external professional can call us in advance and advise us of the testing days, we can then add a note to your account, so that in the case that someone reports a breach we are aware that there is testing taking place.

Please take note of the following when testing your irrigation:

  • The professional must be in attendance in the garden area where the sprinklers are operating
  • Appropriate signage indicating that testing is in progress must be clearly displayed
  • Inspectors will ask to view repairs.

Bore water is still a resource that should be used wisely. Although you get an extra watering day with a bore, sprinkler rosters and times apply to both scheme and bore users. If you have a bore connected to your irrigation system and need to perform testing you can only test your newly installed or repaired irrigation system on your allocated watering days; this applies during and outside the winter sprinkler switch off. We encourage that testing takes place before 9am or after 6pm. Please ensure that testing is limited to a maximum of 2 minutes per station.

Please visit The Department of Water and Environment website to find out more about sprinkler rosters for bore users and the restrictions which apply.
