Halls Creek Source Restore
Project goal:
To deliver additional capacity to address the Halls Creek town water supply’s ability to meet peak demand.
Status:
Construction starting soon
Delivery Date:
2026
What’s happening?
We're planning to upgrade our infrastructure in Halls Creek to support the expansion of our water supply network. This is part of our plan to ensure a safe and reliable water supply for the Halls Creek community.
The project will equip five additional bores for production and be integrated into the towns water scheme. Three will be refurbished bores and two newly constructed bores. This will increase the capacity of the borefield by 600KL/day.Â
As part of the project, we will also be constructing 3km’s of connecting pipeline to integrate the equipped bores to the towns water supply.Â
Why is this being proposed?
Halls Creek's water supply currently comes from groundwater. Drinking water for Halls Creek is extracted from bores located in the Halls Creek Orogen and King Leopold Sandstone.
Groundwater requires rainfall to recharge and replenish, which can be unreliable with bores seeing declining yield.
Additional source capacity is required to address the Halls Creek town water supply's ability to meet peak demand. The new equipped bores and pipeline will deliver additional supply to meet customer demand in Halls Creek.
Where is this happening?
The location of the work is shown on the map below and will occur southeast of Halls Creek townsite, off Duncan Road. The connecting pipeline will be built between the bores to connect and integrate them into the scheme.
When is this taking place?
Construction is planned to commence mid-2025 and is estimated to take 12 months to complete.
Further information on start dates will be provided closer to the time.
How will this impact the community?
Throughout the work, you may notice an increase in personnel, traffic and trucks in the area. We ask that you are extra vigilant on the roads during this time to ensure the safety if yourself and workers.
During some sections of the project, you may also notice increases in noise, dust, and vibration around the work area, during work hours.
Water Corporation and its contractors endeavour to minimise impacts where possible and we thank you for your patience while these remedial works are completed.
