Project goal:

Water Corporation is undertaking a remedial project at Logue Brook Dam to increase the safety and reliability of the dam.

Status:

In construction

Delivery Date:

Construction is due to be completed mid-2024

What's happening?

To ensure visitors continue to safely enjoy Logue Brook Dam, Water Corporation is upgrading the embankment located on the northern part of the reservoir.

As part of the works, our authorised contractor, BCP Kaartdijin JV, has removed an existing section of Blackburn Road, to allow the placement of new material in the embankment. A new public road will be re-constructed over the dam crest.

The dam remains open for visitor activities including boating and fishing, however, only the southern dam bank remains accessible to the public. The Lake Brockman Tourist Park, Logue Brook Dam Campsite, and DBCA's Brockman Campground remain open. Brockman Campground can be accessed via Scarp Road (gravel road).

Where is this happening?

This project work will take place on the northern and western sides of the reservoir.

Detour access to DBCA's Brockman Campground is via approximately 9 km of gravel road - Scarp Road. Existing tracks off Scarp Road to the southern / eastern dam edge can be used for day use. For safety purposes, please do not swim at the Boat and Jet Ski Launch area.

Please refer to the map below for relevant road, picnic site, and dam bank closures and the Munda Biddi Cycle Trail deviation, including:

  • Blackburn Road is closed to the public.
  • Saddlebank Picnic Site and Clarke Picnic Site is closed to the public.
  • The north-western dam bank is closed to the public.
  • Munda Biddi Cycle Trail deviation is in place along Scarp Road

When is this happening?

The upgrade must be carried out over the warmer months as the rain can affect the works. Construction commenced on 11 December 2023 and will take approximately 6-8 months to complete, depending on the weather.

Working hours will be between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday.

How will this impact me?

Throughout the work, you may notice an increase in personnel, traffic and trucks in the area. We ask that you are extra vigilant on the roads during this time to ensure the safety of yourself and workers.

Please note, detours and signage will be in place to safely direct residents and visitors around the dam. A deviation has also been established for the Munda Biddi trail, along Scarp Road.

During some sections of the project, you may also notice increases in noise, dust and vibration around the work area, during working hours.

Water Corporation and its contractors endeavour to minimise impacts where possible.
