A variable shrub or small tree which occurs across most of WA. If trained to shape when young it can become a graceful small tree 3 to 4 metres high and 2 metres across with dull lime-green, though fairly open, foliage. Flowering can occur at different times of year. Fruits that follow are large and bright red, 2-3 centimetres in diameter. The flesh is used to make jams and sauces and is very rich in Vitamin C. Some plants sucker to form small colonies. All are hemi-parasitic but do not damage host plants. This plant may only be available at specialist nurseries.

Pronunciation: San-taa-lum
