Expanded eligibility for households to be more waterwise

- Expanded eligibility for community to access waterwise program
- Significant milestone of saved water within reach under expanded offers
- Efficiency push complements $1.2 billion investment in regional water projects
A record number of towns across Western Australia will be eligible for new waterwise offers and rebates to improve water efficiency around the home and save precious drinking water.
The expanded eligibility under Water Corporation's Waterwise Towns Program, combined with offers from South West water utilities Busselton Water and Aqwest - Bunbury Water, reflects the collaborative approach Western Australians are taking to make every drop count.
With a record 115 localities selected for the Waterwise Towns program this year, regional communities are on track to save enough water to fill Optus Stadium three times over - a significant milestone for the program which has helped save 2.8 billion litres since 2013.
The program last year helped save 637 million litres of water - the equivalent of 70 million buckets.
Program offers are tailored to participating communities and include rebates for water-efficient toilets, free water-efficient showerheads and irrigation efficiency support.
Offers are also now available to Busselton Water and Aqwest - Bunbury Water customers, extending the practical tips and actions households, businesses and community groups can take to protect and preserve precious water supplies.
Aqwest - Bunbury Water is offering an irrigation service rebate and weather-based irrigation controller rebate to eligible customers, and will continue its showerhead swap program, rainwater tank rebate and dual-flush toilet rebates.
Busselton Water will launch a Weather-based Irrigation Controller Rebate during National Water Week, with customers able to get a rebate of up to $300 on the purchase, set up and programming of eligible products from Monday, 19 October.
Alongside practical water-efficiency initiatives, the Cook Labor Government is investing a record $1.2 billion in water projects in 2026-27, to support water security and improve essential water and wastewater infrastructure across WA.
Offers and eligibility differ between water providers and locations, so residents and businesses are encouraged to check with their utility for details:
Comments attributed to Water Minister Daniel Pastorelli:
"Being more water efficient is a shared responsibility for all Western Australians to protect and preserve this precious resource.
"These offers give households, businesses and community groups more practical ways to save water, like swapping out wasteful showerheads for water-efficient ones or providing rebates for rainwater tanks and toilets.
"We know the impacts a changing climate, lower rainfall and population growth is having on our water resources, so this program plays a crucial role in helping all Western Australians play their part.
"I encourage all eligible communities and households to make the most of this year's program and build on the significant savings already being achieved across Western Australia."
