Crown Perth Eco Seminar
Key achievements
- Employee-led CROWNEARTH Committee drives energy, water and waste management initiatives
- Saved over 1 million kilolitres of water since 2009
- CROWNEARTH week promotes sustainability and liveability measures
At Crown, we take a group-wide approach to environmental sustainability. We align strategies and programs that further reduce the environmental impact and contribute to developing more sustainable practices. Our focus is on three key areas – energy, waste and water management.
We recognise that employees need to understand and be aligned to the environmental sustainability objectives, otherwise change is difficult to achieve and short-lived.
With a continued focus on staff engagement through regular events, training and communications, staff and contractors are kept informed of our environmental performance and progress, whilst continuing to embed sustainability as part of Crown’s culture.

Championing water conservation
Our well-established, employee-led CROWNEARTH Committee continue to remain very active, focusing on numerous energy, water and waste management initiatives, as well as community-focused projects to improve the overall sustainability performance of the business.
“At Crown, we believe staff engagement is pivotal to ongoing success. Despite the complex having grown significantly since 2008 with the opening of both Crown Metropol and Crown Towers, we’ve seen a continual decrease in water consumption, saving an excess of 1 million kilolitres of water since 2009.”
This is a credit to our employees both within the Property Services team and the CROWNEARTH committee who continue drive change and raise awareness around the importance of being waterwise” - Tony Fioraso, General Manager Property Services – Crown Perth.
CROWNEARTH Week
The annual CROWNEARTH week is an employee-led event that promotes sustainability and liveability measures for today, and for future generations to come. The aim is to create awareness around water efficiency and provide employees with the knowledge required to make meaningful change both at work and home.
Throughout the week, vendors are invited to daily pop-up activations in back of house locations, where they have the opportunity to educate employees on their services and water saving techniques.

Spreading the waterwise message
We encourage waterwise behaviours with through continual employee communication, to create further awareness of our water use and conservation.
We also carry out regular inspections of our toilets, bathrooms and kitchens and talk openly with our teams on how we can be more water efficient.
