Metering options for stratas

All properties connected to our water supply scheme must have a water meter so that we can measure water use.

For strata properties that need individual water meters for each property, two metering options are available:

Option 1

Water Corporation fits individual meters at an agreed road frontage, adjacent to a water main for individually subdivided or strata titled lots.

This option only applies to multiple unit developments, which provide road frontages for all units.

Option 2

Master/sub-metering arrangements are only available for strata developments creating more than 3 strata lots. This is where we provide a single meter at the boundary, which is capable of being shared by the strata lots under a sub-metering agreement.

Under a sub-metering agreement, we are still able to bill the individual strata properties separately for annual service charges and water use. 

In comparison to the provision of individual direct services, these types of arrangements are often a more cost effective means of servicing lots within a strata scheme by reducing  infrastructure contributions and service installation costs.
