Mount Eliza Reservoir inlet upgrade
Project goal:
Upgrade essential ageing infrastructure buried within the Mount Eliza Reservoir embankment to ensure the integrity of the assets and secure the reliability of water to Perth and the surrounding areas for decades to come.
Status:
In construction
Delivery Date:
September 2021 to early 2022
What’s happening?
Water Corporation's authorised contractor, Civcon, will upgrade ageing water pipes and valve infrastructure buried within the Mount Eliza Reservoir embankment site located in Kings Park. This will help ensure the reliability of water to Perth and the surrounding areas for decades to come.
As part of this essential upgrade work we will replace the inlet water mains and old valves; demolish and construct a new regulating valve building and construct a new valve pit, with one of the pit walls forming part of the existing fence line along Wadjuk Way.
Where is this happening?
Upgrade work will mostly be contained to Water Corporation's Mount Eliza Reservoir site located within Kings Park, Perth. Some work will take place along the reservoir fence line along Wadjuk Way.
When is this taking place?
Work will begin in September 2021 and will be completed early 2022.
Work will be mainly completed Monday to Friday between 7am - 5pm and Saturday 7am – 2pm.
To help reduce impacts, some early morning and night work may be required, however we will communicate this work ahead of time..
How will this impact the community?
As with any construction activities, visitors to Kings Park utilising Wadjuk Way will notice an increase in noise, dust, and activity in the area from machinery and trucks as they transport materials to and from the work site.
Wadjuk Way traffic management
Pedestrians and cyclists: A section of footpath along Wadjuk Way near to where work is taking place will be closed and pedestrian and cyclist management will be in place. Traffic controllers will be available to safely direct pedestrians to the other side of Wadjuk Way. A detour will also be available for cyclists through Wardong carpark.
Road users: Wadjuk Way will need partial and full road closures for short periods of time. Detours and traffic management will be in place during this time.
We urge you to take extra care around the work area and observe the instructions of traffic management personnel and signage.
Environment
The upgrade work is designed to have minimal impact to Kings Park flora. We will continue to work with Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority (BGPA) to minimise impacts on the public and ensure the high standard of site presentation is maintained upon completion of work.
We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we complete this essential work.
