Over the last decade teachers at the school have been educating students on the need to value, protect and conserve water resources.

Water Corporation General Manager Customer and Community Group Catherine Ferrari thanked the school for sharing the waterwise message.

“In our drying climate it’s important the next generation are aware of how precious water is and Kardinya Primary School has been sharing this message now for 10 years,” Ms Ferrari said.

"Young people are the water users of the future, so it is vital teachers continue to educate students about the value of water.  Thank you to the students and teachers at Kardinya Primary for your dedication to the program.”

Kardinya Primary School’s Waterwise Coordinator Jan Duke said as a result of the program the students and community have become more aware of the value of water in the environment and the need to be waterwise.

“Our school also received an award for writing an original song with a water conservation theme for  Water Corporation’s first Waterwise Song Contest, and this was something our music students really enjoyed being involved in,” Mrs Duke said.

The Waterwise Schools Program takes a long-term approach to water education and behavioural change, and complements the curriculum across all major learning areas.
