What’s happening?
We have an aged wastewater facility underground at Victoria Gardens, East Perth that requires repair and upgrade in the next few months.
This will involve undertaking work at the pump station, including installation of a new generator and inspection of wastewater storage tanks. This essential work will improve the reliability of wastewater infrastructure within the East Perth area.
To allow us to do this work safely, we will install temporary aboveground bypass pipes to divert the flow of wastewater around the facility while we're undertaking our work.

When is this happening?
Work will be happening in two stages:
From May 2026, we will commence preparation work at the pump station and above the storage tanks in the grassed area. This work will require some minor pruning of tress.
From July 2026, the temporary pump and bypass pipes are scheduled for installation, including the inspection and repair of our wastewater facility. This work is expected to take up to 4 weeks.
What the expect:
- In the next few weeks, you may notice contractors within the area conducting service locating or other preparation work.
- As with any construction activities, there will be an increase in vehicle movement, noise, and dust in the area.
- Property access will be maintained during the work.
We appreciate that this work may cause temporary inconvenience and disruption while we carry out this essential maintenance. We will be mindful of residents and try to keep the disruptions to a minimum.

We have been upgrading our facility at Victoria Gardens, East Perth since late June 2026. This essential work will improve the reliability of the wastewater infrastructure within the East Perth area.
To allow us to work safely, we have set up a temporary aboveground bypass pipe to divert the flow of wastewater.
Part of the work involved inspections of our underground storage tanks which now require urgent repair, extending the completion date of this work until early September.
We will be working with our authorised contractor, Minprovise, to coordinate the repair work. This will involve concrete repair and drilling activities within the underground storage tanks, which are classified as confined spaces.
What to expect:
- As with any construction project, there will be some increased vehicle movements and noise in the area. We appreciate your patience and understanding to date as we complete these important works and manage the associated construction impacts.
- To minimise impact on the surrounding area, a concrete truck will be positioned at the base of the hill and concrete will be pumped to the work stie, reducing the need for vehicle movements within public access areas.
- We are committed to a thorough reinstatement process to ensure all impacted areas are replaced like for like, where practically possible. We are also working closely with the City of Perth to ensure all reinstatement works meet the required standards and are completed to an acceptable quality.
