Donnybrook Water Supply Upgrade
Project goal:
Equip a new bore, install a new water collector pipeline and associated works.
Status:
Construction starting 22 July 2025
Delivery Date:
6 months
What’s happening?
Our authorised contractor, Leicon Notley will soon start work to equip a groundwater bore, construct new pipelines and associated electrical works as part of our Donnybrook Water Supply Upgrade project.
The location of the work is shown on the map below and will occur in:
- Our existing bore site at the southern edge of Donnybrook Golf Course
- The northern verge of Ecclestone Street
- Both sides of Bakewell Street, and,
- The northern verge of Bentley Street
Why is the work happening?
This essential upgrade work will ensure the reliability of the current Donnybrook water supply. The bore being equipped will be used, as required, to ensure we can meet the water demand of Donnybrook.
When is this happening?
Our contractors are expected to set up their laydown area and commence construction from 22 July 2025. The work is expected to take approximately six months to complete.
Work will be completed Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm, and Saturdays as required.
How will this impact me?
Noise and dust
It is planned to construct the pipelines by open trench excavation. As with any construction activities, there will be an increase in vehicle movement, personnel, noise and dust in the area. Noise and dust will be kept to a minimum however, construction will involve road cutting, excavating and compacting.
Traffic management
The work will be delivered in stages, and during this time, there will be traffic management in place along Bentley Street and surrounding roads. This will including some short-term temporary road closures where the pipe is being constructed across the road. The following streets are expected to have short term closures and detours at during delivery of the project:
- Bakewell Street
- Whitton Way
- Owen Street
- Caustis Way
In addition, Bentley Street will have traffic management measures in place throughout the works, including signage, traffic control staff and reduced speed limits.
Restoration of verges and driveways
Access to some driveway may be temporarily restricted whole we construct the new pipes. Our contractors will liaise directly with impacted properties on maintaining access. Temporary restoration to verges, roads and driveways will be completed as the new pipe is installed. Full restorations will typically take place in the weeks after construction has been completed.
Please be assured that any affected area, including verges and driveways, will be reinstated as closely as possible to its condition prior to work.
