Project goal:

To improve the reliability of wastewater services in the City of Greater Geraldton.

Status:

Construction starting Tuesday 27 January 2026

Delivery Date:

Approx four months

What's happening?

To improve the reliability of wastewater services in Geraldton, our authorised contractor, Pipeline Technics will soon be starting work to replace a 1.6-kilometre section of the Beaver Street underground wastewater main pipeline.

Located below ground, the construction of the pipeline will be by open trench excavation, except the Place Road crossing which will be installed by horizontal directional drilling. All excavations will be backfilled and restored.

Where is this happening?

The new pipeline will link the Geraldton Wastewater Treatment Plant to the Beaver Street Pump Station in the industrial area. Work will start near the pump station and treatment plant, with the pipeline running along Stow Street, Dwyer Street, and Place Road.

The location of the work is shown on the map below.

When is this happening?

Construction is scheduled to commence from Tuesday 27 January 2026 and is expected to take approximately four months to complete.

Work will be completed Monday to Sunday, 7am to 5pm.

How will this impact the community?

Noise and dust

As with any construction activities, there will be an increase in vehicle movement, personnel, noise and dust in the area. Noise and dust will be kept to a minimum however, construction may involve road cutting, excavating and compacting.

Traffic management

Short-term road closures and detours will be required while the pipeline is being constructed and crossing roads. Construction will be completed using open trench method with horizontal directional drilling underneath Place Rd. We will keep you updated on timings of the closures including detours. Keep an eye out for traffic management signage as work commences.

Restoration of verges and driveways/accessways

Access to some driveways may temporarily be restricted while we construct the new pipes. Our contractors will liaise with you in advance on how to maintain access to your property. Temporary restorations to verges, roads and driveways will be completed as the new pipe is installed. Full restorations will typically take place in the weeks after construction has been completed.

Please be assured that any affected area, including verges and driveways, will be reinstated as closely as possible to its condition prior to the work.
