Jurien Bay water supply expansion
Project goal:
To ensure a safe and reliable future water supply for the Jurien Bay community
Status:
In planning
Delivery Date:
March 2026 - April 2027
What's happening?
Water Corporation is planning for future upgrades to water supply infrastructure in Jurien Bay.
Jurien Bay town's water supply is currently supplied by groundwater from bores. The works being proposed are to bring a groundwater bore, which has already been drilled, on-line at one of our existing borefields along Jurien Rd, and the installation of a new, 2-kilometre- long pipeline from this location to the town's existing tank off Jurien Rd.
A new powerline is planned to be installed by Western Power, starting from Canover Rd and located within the Shire's road reserve, running parallel to Jurien Rd. The new powerline is planned to travel underground when crossing Jurien Rd to connect to the new water treatment plant.
As part of these works, a road widening is also planned at the intersection of Jurien Rd and the new water treatment plant access road.
These works will help ensure a safe and reliable future water supply for the Jurien Bay community.
Where is this happening?
When is this happening?
Construction work is planned to commence in March- April 2026 and be completed by April 2027.
Construction for the pipeline section of work is planned to commence in March -April 2026 and take approximately 8 months to complete.
We will continue to keep the community informed of any project updates.
How will this impact the community?
As the project site for the new pipeline is located on Crown Land, nearby landowners and residents are not expected to be impacted by this work.
Traffic management may be required for the road widening section of work at the intersection of Jurien Rd and the new water treatment plant access road. You may notice vehicles, crew and equipment in the area from time to time.
Construction of the new powerline will require some pruning and clearing of nearby vegetation as part of Western Power's safety requirements. Most of the clearing will be located within the Shire's road reserve. Any private landowners affected will be contacted.
