Margaret River Lantana Lane upgrade
Project goal:
We are planning a new wastewater pipeline to continue providing reliable wastewater services to the Riverslea community of Margaret River.
Status:
In planning.
Delivery Date:
The proposed work is scheduled to commence in mid-2026.
What’s happening?
To maintain a reliable wastewater service in Margaret River, we are planning to upgrade the wastewater infrastructure connected to the Lantana Lane Wastewater Pump Station at Lantana Lane in Riverslea.
This upgrade will include the construction of a new 2.6km pipeline that will flow directly to Margaret River Water Resource Recovery Facility.
The pipeline will be installed underground using a mix of open trench and trenchless construction methods.
Why is this being proposed?
This upgrade will strengthen Margaret River’s wastewater network and help keep services reliable into the future.
Where is this happening?
The new pipeline will start at the Lantana Lane Wastewater Pump Station, travel along Riverslea Drive, pass beneath the river, and then continue along Perimeter Road to connect to the Water Resource Recovery Facility. Most work will take place in reserves, along roads or within verges.
When is the work taking place?
Construction is planned to commence in 2026 and is estimated to take 12 months to complete. Further information on start dates and work times will be provided closer to the time.
How will this impact me?
Water Corporation and our contractors will work to minimise impacts where possible and thank you for your patience while this important upgrade is completed.
Construction impacts
The pipeline will be constructed below ground, mostly in road reserves and verges. Installation of the pipeline will be carried out using both trenching and trenchless methods. We do not expect to trench directly on any surrounding residential properties. Any areas impacted by the work will be restored as close as possible to their original condition.
As with any construction, you may notice more noise, dust and activity in the area at times. We will work to keep this to a minimum whenever we can. There may be temporary impacts to roads, verges and pedestrian paths. To complete the work safely, we may need to restrict parts of the road at certain stages. When this happens, traffic management and detours will be in place to help direct people around the area.
We will provide further information about traffic changes closer to the time.
Environmental considerations
We have worked closely with the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River, the Forest Product Commission and Water Corporation’s environmental team to minimise any potential impact to the area during and after construction.
